Who can use Woodys Bargains? |
Woodys Bargains© is open to all persons above the age of 18
years, who have a verifiable email address. A verifiable email
address is necessary so that buyers/sellers can contact you to
complete a transaction at the conclusion of an auction. Email
addresses are verified using an autosponder web-based
verification system, which is initiated at user registration.
Anonymous e-mail services, which are typically web-based and
free to use, allow customers to sign up and use e-mail
services without providing verifiable personal information.
Examples of services that Woodys Bargains© system classifies
as anonymous e-mail providers are:- Hotmail TM, Yahoo! TM Mail
and MailExcite TM.
A very small number of people use the anonymity of such
services as a front to abuse web-based services such as Woodys Bargains©.
In contrast, non-anonymous e-mail services are generally
provided by ISPs like:- AOL, MSNTM and NetcomTM.
These e-mail services require a more formal registration
process which provides for more accountability.
To protect our users from persons who would seek to abuse Woodys Bargains©
system (in a method as outlined above), when registering as a
"New User", we recommend that you provide details of
a current and valid credit card. These details remain
protected and confidential through our secure e-commerce site
and are never divuldged to any other person or company (see
our privacy page for full details).
Woodys Bargains© never withdraws funds from credit cards
provided, unless duly authorized by the credit card holder, to
pay an account on behalf of a seller of an item or for the
purchase of an item where the sale is conducted by Woodys Bargains©
on the behalf of a vendor.
Those persons interested in selling on Woodys Bargains©
system should establish a line of credit. This generally means
providing us with a valid credit card number, or depositing
funds into a trust account sufficient to cover sales
commissions charged. |

You must follow the instructions within that message in order
to complete your registration. This process ensures that your

receive this message, then you have most likely entered your

Username and Password and select "EDIT".

email address you had just verified.

I was very pleased/unhappy
dealing with someone; what should I do? |
There is not a great deal that you can do about the problems
that you may encounter with a particular transaction other
than what is already open to you through normal legal
recourse.
However for Woodys Bargains© to be effective all public
feedback, positive or negative, regarding a transactions only
goes to improve the effectiveness of Woodys Bargains© system.
Constructive mature criticism of a seller or buyer assists all
other users to identify potential problems when bidding,
making Woodys Bargains© system a safer place to buy and sell.
Feedback forums can only be truly effective when all users
approach the feedback forum with a mature and fair attitude,
remembering that there are always two sides to a story. A
bidder should never be dissuaded from bidding on a lot because
the seller has had negative feedback, but rather judge each
particular case on its merits.
If you are making a complaint about someone in the feedback
forum, please try to resolve the conflict with that person
directly before leaving negative feedback.
Please note! Woodys Bargains© system does not allow a user to
delete or modify any feedback once it is posted.
To use the feedback forum simply go to HELP/SERVICES section.
From there click 'Leave feedback about user' link and enter
the username of the person you wish to leave feedback on.
Alternatively, sellers will have a link to their feedback
forums from their listing pages. Sellers can access bidders'
feedback forums from their seller homepages.
Please note! Any remarks posted about a seller that are not
genuine in nature or true in substance could leave the author
open to prosecution under the laws of liable. Take care in
what you say, and have the facts to back your comments up. |

What is Quick Win? |
The Quick Win feature enables you to win the item prior to the
commencement of active bidding. The Quick Win value is posted
on the Lot page. That value is the fixed amount at which the
vendor will accept and agree to sell the item to you.
How does Quick Win work to that effect?
Once you have selected the Quick Win option, you have won the
item at the posted Quick Win value. No further bidding is
permitted and the auction on that Lot ceases immediately. |
| |
|
|
Every time I submit a bid, I am
outbid by the current high bidder. What's wrong? |
There is nothing wrong, the system is working correctly. Being
immediately outbid means that an earlier bidder specified a
maximum bid higher than the maximum you just specified. When
you hit SUBMIT, the other bidder's "proxy"
immediately placed a bid on his behalf, just enough to outbid
your maximum, to ensure his position as high bidder. When you
place a bid with a maximum high enough to outbid all other
bidders, your proxy will protect your position in the same
way. |
| |
|
|
How do I find out if I won after
an auction ended? |
You should have received an email soon after the auction
listing the auction number, and the winning bid. The email is
sent on behalf of the seller to you, and the "From:"
contains the seller's email address. Auction results are
available on the original item's auction page, for up to 30
days after the scheduled close of the auction. If you have the
lot number, enter it into the "GO TO" box on the
left side on the the Home Page. If you have lost the lot
number, then do a search based on keywords for the Lot you are
looking for |
| |
|
|
What if the seller doesn't want
to sell anymore? |
Although this does not happen that frequently, since normally
sellers are eager to sell their lots, it can be disappointing
when it happens. Keep in mind that although Woodys Bargains
cannot "force" a seller to honor the final auction
results, you as the bidder can and should leave appropriate
feedback for the seller using the Feedback Forum
Keep in mind that many people don't access their email daily,
so they may not be intentionally ignoring you if you don't
hear from them. |
| |
|
|
Can I retract my bid once it has
been placed? |
It is possible under certain circuimstances to reduce or
retract your bid once it has been submitted. However, be very
careful before placing a bid. Removing bids after they have
been placed is not fair to either the seller or other bidders. |
| |
|
|
Can I increase my maximum bid
after I've placed a bid? |
Yes
Simply place a new bid with your new maximum. Except for some
special cases, you won't be bidding against yourself, so there
is no need to worry. |
| |
|
|
Why was I outbid by less than the
bid increment? |
When using this system remember that the determining factors
are the current high bid and the new bid about to be
submitted, NOT any maximum bids you may have entered.
For example,
You are the first bidder and the opening bid is $1 and you bid
a maximum of $10. The current bid is now $1 for you with a $10
maximum bid. Another bidder comes along and decides to bid $6
and discovers he his immediately over bid (by the system
executing your maximum). You are still the current high bidder
at $7. So he bids again, say $8 this time and again he is
outbid by $1 and you are still the high bidder at $9. The
other bidder thinks that perhaps you have left a maximum bid
of $10, so he bids $10.50 He is now the high bidder at his bid
of $10.50. Why? Because the difference between the current
high bid (not your maximum bid) and the new bid submitted is
greater than the minimum bid increment on the lot.
If the bidder had bid $10, then the bid would have been tied
with you as the current high bidder and the other bidder's
next minimum bid would have been $11. Again, it is the current
high bid and not any maximum bids held in the system that
determine whether new bids are accepted. |
| |
|
|
Who can see my Maximum Bid? |
Maximum bids are held in the strictest confidence. They are
never displayed to other bidders or to sellers in any page
available on the system, even after an auction has ended. A
bidder or seller could infer what your maximum bid was, once
you are outbid. |
| |
|
|
What is a "Reserve Price
Auction?" |
Some auctions may be run with reserve prices. The reserve
price is the lowest price at which a seller is willing to sell
an item. A seller might specify a reserve price if he/she is
unsure of the real value of his/her lot and would like to
reserve the right to refuse to sell the item if the market
value is below a certain price.
The seller specifies the "Reserve Price" when he/she
lists an item.
Reserves are normally not disclosed. |
| |
|
|
What is "Referred to
Vendor?" |
What is "Referred to Vendor?"
A. Just like Physical (normal or outcry) auctions at the close
of a auction if the highest bid has not reached the Reserve
the highest bid is passed to the vendor by the Auctioneer -
Usually the Auctioneer goes in to bat on behalf of the highest
bidder - that is recommending to the Vendor to take the
highest bid. Also in keeping with Physical Auctions practice
the Auctioneer will not take the bid or recommend the highest
bid if the Auctioneer believes the bid is not in the best
interest of the Vendor. |
| |
|
|
How do I find out how my auction
ended? |
You should have received an email soon after the auction
listing the auction number, the winning bid, the winning
bidder's username and their email address. Auction results are
available on the original item's auction page, for a period of
time after the scheduled close of the auction. or go to the
Seller Home Page and choose "View My Lots". |
| |
|
|
Can I change my item's
description or category? |
Unfortunately, you cannot change your original description or
item title, since bidders might be confused by any material or
significant change in the item once the auction is underway.
You can change lot's category or title at any time during an
auction
The system is not set up to accept additional information from
you. However, if there is a material error in your listing,
send it to us along with the item number and will add it to
the bottom of your description. You should have the capability
to do this yourself soon. |
| |
|
|
Can I change my item's starting
price or quantity? |
Unfortunately, the initial parameters of an auction, such as
starting price, quantity, or reserve price, cannot be changed
once the auction is underway. You should carefully verify your
listing before placing it. If necessary, you can end your
auction immediately and relist it. |
| |
|
|
How much does it cost to sell? |
There are two primary selling fees at Woodys Bargains:
. A listing fee
. A commission fee (only paid if sold)
The listing fee is figured for each auction using the
following table:
Reserve price or if no reserve then the Opening Bid Listing
Fee $0.01 - $9.99 $0.50
$10.00 - $24.99 $0.75
$25.00 - $49.99 $2.00
$50.00 and up $3.50
The Commission (Successfully sold) Fee is figured using this
formula on the highest bid amount. up to $200 5.0%
$200.01 up to $1,000 3.5%
over $1,000.01 2.50%
For example, suppose an auction closes with a high bid of
$450.
The Commission Fee would be figured as follows: 5% of the
amount up to $200 $10.00
3.5% from $200.01 up to $450 ($249.99) $8.75
Total Commission Fee on $450 $18.75
Total Commissions And Listing Fees
Total Fees on $450 $18.75
$3.50
$22.25
These charges are calculated when the auction ends and billed
on a semi-monthly basis to account holders, so you don't have
to worry about tracking multiple small charges.
You can always view the current commissions due at your Seller
Home Page
Add-On Add-On Fee
Bold lot name $0.50
Lot featured on category page $0.75

How does the system work? |
Affiliate manager will track the visitors you send to our site
and collect sales and traffic data. Affiliate manager takes no
personal information or credit card data from the visitors. As
an affiliate, you will have access to an online reporting
system that will provide you detailed statistics for your
site, and allow you to understand what offer types are earning
you the most commissions.
You earn commissions when a sale is made to a visitor you sent
to us. Affiliate manager generates the commission statements,
and when your site has earned more than a certain dollar
amount threshold in commissions, you will get a check from us
after the month ends. |
| |
|
|
How do I pay Woodys Bargains? |
All fees are applied to your account as incurred. On the 1st
and 15th of each month an email invoice is sent to each
account with a current balance due. To insure uninterrupted
service, we encourage sellers to provide us with an American
Express, Bankcard, Visa or MasterCard. Once on file, your card
will be automatically debited bimonthly. If we do not have a
your credit card on file, you cannot post items to sell on our

will be credited to your account and used as auction fees are
incurred.

Not received email |
Email
Can you imagine what life would be like without email? Email
has become such an integral means of everyday communications
that the prospect of not having access to it is inconceivable.
For members, emails are an important means of communicating
and the notification emails are an important means of staying
informed and updated as to the status of your auctions and
bids. Without emails it'd be nearly impossible to carry out
any sort of auction transaction. With this in mind, it's
important to know that email is not a fail-proof medium. If
you've ever sat around waiting for an email that never
arrives, you'll know what we mean. There are a lot of factors,
both human and technical that can prevent a simple email from
reaching its destination. The most common factor is invalid
email addresses. If an address doesn't exist, the email
doesn't reach its destination, pure and simple. We've said it
before, and we'll say it again - if you change your email
address at any time in the future, don't forget to update your member
details!Unfortunately, some of the other reasons for email
delivery failure are less obvious. For example, your Internet
Service Provider (ISP) may be blocking emails to your account
without you knowing it. In the day and age of email spamming,
it's understandable that ISPs want to keep their users'
mailboxes free of junk mail, and to that effect, some of ISPs
have systems in place that attempt to identify and block
'Spam' email. The techniques and effectiveness for identifying
spam email are widely varied, not to mention controversial,
and many ISPs do not acknowledge their filtering or blocking
of certain emails.
Our system sends out thousands of emails everyday, and while
the vast majority of them reach their intended destinations,
some do not, due to reasons beyond our control. While
your status page is your most important source of
information about your current auctions and bids, it's
important to ensure that you're receiving your subscribed
notification emails. If you suspect that you're not receiving
all the emails that you should be, please contact us |
